TVS Apache RTR 180 Expert Review
The TVS Apache RTR 180 is one of the longest-running motorcycles in
the Apache lineup. Despite its age, the bike continues to appeal to
enthusiasts because of its strong performance and sporty handling
characteristics.
Powered by a 177.4 cc oil-cooled engine, the Apache RTR 180 delivers a
lively riding experience that feels energetic both in city conditions
and on open highways.
Engine & Refinement
The single-cylinder oil-cooled motor produces 17.02 PS of power and
15.5 Nm of torque. It accelerates briskly and offers a strong
mid-range, making overtakes easy in traffic.
The engine is tuned for performance and delivers quick throttle
response, which enthusiasts will appreciate during spirited riding.
Ride & Handling
Thanks to its lightweight frame and sporty geometry, the Apache RTR
180 feels agile and responsive when cornering. The telescopic front
forks and gas-charged rear suspension offer a balance between comfort
and sporty handling.
At 140 kg kerb weight, the motorcycle remains easy to manage in city
traffic while still feeling stable at highway speeds.
Braking Performance
Braking duties are handled by a 270 mm front disc and a 200 mm rear
disc supported by single-channel ABS. The braking setup offers strong
stopping power and good feedback to the rider.
While dual-channel ABS would improve safety further, the current
braking system still performs confidently in everyday riding
situations.
Fuel Efficiency & Range
The Apache RTR 180 offers an ARAI-certified mileage of around 45 km/l,
which is respectable for a performance-oriented motorcycle in this
segment.
With its 12-litre fuel tank, the bike provides a practical riding
range suitable for both daily commuting and occasional highway rides.
Comfort & Ergonomics
The riding posture is slightly sporty but still comfortable for
everyday use. The seat height of 790 mm makes the bike accessible to a
wide range of riders.
Overall, the Apache RTR 180 remains a fun-to-ride motorcycle that
combines performance, technology and affordability.
