Yamaha FZ Rave Expert Review
The Yamaha FZ Rave is positioned as a stylish commuter motorcycle in
the competitive 150 cc segment. It carries the iconic FZ design
language with muscular tank shrouds, sharp LED lighting and a sporty
stance. Yamaha’s focus with the FZ lineup has always been smooth
performance, reliability and everyday usability.
Under the tank sits a 149 cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine producing
12.4 PS and 13.3 Nm of torque. While the numbers may not be
class-leading, the engine is known for smooth power delivery and
refined operation. The five-speed gearbox is easy to use in traffic
and complements the relaxed nature of the bike.
Engine & Refinement
Yamaha engines are widely appreciated for refinement, and the FZ Rave
continues that tradition. The engine remains smooth across most of the
rev range and vibrations are minimal even at highway speeds. Throttle
response is predictable and friendly for new riders.
The gearbox is paired with a wet multi-disc clutch and shifts are
light and precise. This makes daily commuting and stop-and-go traffic
riding much easier.
Ride & Handling
The lightweight 136 kg kerb weight helps the bike feel agile in city
traffic. Yamaha’s diamond frame and balanced suspension setup offer
predictable handling, making the motorcycle stable while cornering and
maneuvering.
With a seat height of 790 mm and upright ergonomics, riders of
different heights can comfortably manage the bike. The riding posture
is relaxed and ideal for long daily rides.
Braking Performance
Braking duties are handled by a 282 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear
disc. The system is supported by single-channel ABS which prevents the
front wheel from locking under hard braking.
The braking performance is adequate for city riding and occasional
highway usage, offering predictable stopping power with good control.
Fuel Efficiency & Range
Yamaha has not officially claimed an ARAI mileage figure for the FZ
Rave. However, the fuel-injected engine combined with the 13-litre
fuel tank ensures a practical riding range for daily commuting.
With a theoretical riding range of around 663 km, the motorcycle can
handle long city commutes or occasional weekend rides without frequent
fuel stops.
Comfort & Ergonomics
Comfort is one of the strong points of the FZ Rave. The wide seat,
upright handlebar and neutral footpeg position make it suitable for
long daily rides.
Overall, the Yamaha FZ Rave delivers a balanced combination of design,
comfort and reliability. It may not be the most powerful bike in its
segment, but it remains a dependable option for riders seeking a
stylish and practical commuter motorcycle.
