Yamaha FZS Fi Hybrid Expert Review
The Yamaha FZS Fi Hybrid builds on the strong reputation of the FZ
series by introducing mild hybrid technology and improved efficiency.
Yamaha designed this motorcycle mainly for urban riders who want a
balance of style, comfort, and fuel efficiency in a 150cc street
motorcycle.
The motorcycle continues to feature Yamaha’s muscular streetfighter
styling, wide fuel tank design, and comfortable upright ergonomics.
With its hybrid system and traction control, the FZS Hybrid also
brings modern technology to the commuter segment.
Engine & Refinement
The 149cc single-cylinder engine produces 12.4 PS of power and 13.3 Nm
of torque. While it is not the most powerful motorcycle in the
segment, Yamaha has tuned the engine for smooth and predictable power
delivery. The hybrid assist system helps during initial acceleration
and improves overall efficiency.
Refinement levels are excellent, which is typical of Yamaha engines.
Vibrations are well controlled and the engine remains smooth even at
highway cruising speeds.
Ride & Handling
The Yamaha FZS Hybrid uses a diamond frame paired with telescopic
front forks and a monocross rear suspension. The suspension setup is
tuned for comfort, making the bike suitable for city commuting and
occasional highway rides.
At 138 kg kerb weight, the motorcycle feels light and easy to maneuver
in traffic. The wide handlebar and upright riding posture provide
excellent control in urban conditions.
Braking Performance
Braking duties are handled by a 282 mm front disc and a 220 mm rear
disc supported by a single-channel ABS system. The braking performance
is predictable and stable during normal riding conditions.
While dual-channel ABS would have been a welcome addition, the current
setup still offers adequate safety for everyday riding.
Fuel Efficiency & Range
Yamaha claims an ARAI mileage figure of around 60 km/l for the FZS
Hybrid. Real-world fuel efficiency generally falls slightly lower
depending on riding conditions and traffic.
With a 13-litre fuel tank, the motorcycle offers an estimated riding
range of roughly 750 to 780 kilometres on a full tank.
Comfort & Ergonomics
The seat height of 790 mm makes the motorcycle accessible for riders
of different heights. The wide seat and relaxed riding posture ensure
good comfort for both the rider and pillion.
Overall, the Yamaha FZS Fi Hybrid focuses on practicality and
efficiency rather than outright performance, making it a solid choice
for daily commuting.
