Yamaha MT 15 V2 Expert Review
The Yamaha MT 15 V2 is a naked streetfighter motorcycle that combines
aggressive design with strong performance. Inspired by Yamaha’s global
MT lineup, the bike features a sharp LED headlamp design, muscular
fuel tank and lightweight chassis that give it a premium road presence
in the 150 cc segment.
Built on the same platform as the Yamaha R15, the MT 15 V2 focuses
more on street performance and everyday usability. The upright riding
posture and wide handlebar make it easier to handle in city traffic
while still delivering a sporty riding experience.
Engine & Refinement
The 155 cc liquid-cooled engine produces 18.4 PS of power and 14.1 Nm
of torque. It features Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA)
technology, which ensures strong low-end torque while maintaining
excellent high-rpm performance.
Engine refinement is among the best in this segment. Vibrations are
minimal and the motor feels smooth across the rev range, making it
suitable for both daily commuting and spirited riding.
Ride & Handling
The lightweight Deltabox frame combined with USD front forks provides
excellent handling characteristics. The MT 15 V2 feels agile and
responsive, making it particularly enjoyable on twisty roads and city
streets.
At just 141 kg kerb weight, the bike feels extremely nimble and easy
to control. Riders can confidently maneuver through traffic or tight
corners without feeling overwhelmed.
Braking Performance
The MT 15 V2 comes equipped with dual channel ABS and disc brakes on
both wheels. The 282 mm front disc provides strong stopping power,
while the rear disc ensures stable braking performance.
Yamaha has also added traction control, which is uncommon in the 150
cc category. This feature helps prevent wheel slip during sudden
acceleration on slippery surfaces.
Fuel Efficiency & Range
The MT 15 V2 delivers an ARAI-claimed mileage of 56.87 km/l. In
real-world riding conditions, riders can typically expect mileage
between 45 and 50 km/l depending on riding style.
With a 10-litre fuel tank, the bike offers a practical riding range of
around 450–500 km on a full tank under mixed riding conditions.
Comfort & Ergonomics
The upright riding posture and wide handlebars provide good comfort
for daily commuting. However, the seat is relatively compact and
pillion comfort is limited compared to other motorcycles in the
segment.
Overall, the Yamaha MT 15 V2 delivers a great balance of performance,
styling and modern technology, making it one of the most exciting
options in the 150 cc streetfighter category.
